Left Front I/O Valve (N137)
- Open circuit in wiring. Short to +ve or ground between electro-hydraulic unit (N55) and ABS controller (J104)

- Left front ABS inlet/outlet valve (N137) is faulty

- Trace and repair wiring

- Check N55 & test with VAG1710

Left Front wheel speed sensor (G47)
- Open circuit in wiring. Short to +ve in wiring between G47 and ABS controller (J104)

- Rotor damaged or dirty

- Excessive wheel bearing play

- G47 not properly installed

- G47 faulty

- Trace and repair wiring

- Check/replace rotor

- Adjust/replace wheel bearing

- Check G47 in channel 1 of ABS measuring block

- Perform functional test with VAG1710

Right Front I/O Valve (N138)
- Open circuit in wiring. Short to +ve or ground between electro-hydraulic unit (N55) and ABS controller (J104)

- Right front ABS inlet/outlet valve (N138) is faulty

- Trace and repair wiring

- Check N55 & test with VAG1710

- Open circuit in wiring. Short to +ve in wiring between G45 and ABS controller (J104)

- Rotor damaged or dirty

- Excessive wheel bearing play

- G45 not properly installed

- G45 faulty

- Trace and repair wiring

- Check/replace rotor

- Adjust/replace wheel bearing

- Check G45 in channel 2 of ABS measuring block

- Perform functional test with VAG1710

- Open circuit in wiring. Short to +ve in wiring between G44 and ABS controller (J104)

- Rotor damaged or dirty

- Excessive wheel bearing play

- G44 not properly installed

- G44 faulty

- Trace and repair wiring

- Check/replace rotor

- Adjust/replace wheel bearing

- Check G44 in channel 4 of ABS measuring block

- Perform functional test with VAG1710

- Open circuit in wiring. Short to +ve in wiring between G46 and ABS controller (J104)

- Rotor damaged or dirty

- Excessive wheel bearing play

- Adjust/replace wheel bearing

- Check G46 in channel 3 of ABS measuring block

- Perform functional test with VAG1710

ABS Return Flow Pump (V39)
- Open circuit in wiring or contact resistance in power supply or ground connection into V39.

- Open circuit in wiring or short circuit to +ve or ground in wiring between J104 and J105

- ABS Return Flow Pump Relay (J105) or V39  or N55 faulty



- Trace and repair wiring

- Check channel 6 of ABS measuring block

- Check J105, V39 and N55 with functional test using VAG1710

ABS Solenoid Valve Relay (J106)
- Open circuit in wiring or contact resistance in power supply or ground connection into J106.

- Open circuit in wiring or short circuit to +ve or ground in wiring between J104 and J106.

- ABS Solenoid Valve Relay (J106) or V39 or N55 faulty


- Trace and repair wiring

- Check channel 7 of ABS measuring block

- Perform functional test with VAG1710

Brake Light switch (F)
- Open circuit in wiring or short circuit to +ve in wiring between brake switch, brake lights or ABS control module

- Right or Left brake light faulty

- Brake light switch faulty (F)

- Trace and repair wiring

- Check/replace brake lights

- Check brake light switch with channel 5 of ABS measuring block or perform functional test with VAG1710

Voltage Supply
- Open circuit in wiring or contact resistance in power supply or ground connection into J104.

- Voltage out of range at J104. As soon as voltage is within permitted range, the ABS is switched ON and the warning light is extinguished. This fault is only stored if it occurs at a speed greater than 6km/h.

- Trace and repair wiring

- Check alternator and voltage regulator

- Perform functional test with VAG1710

Variations in wheel speed signals
- One rotor with incorrect number of teeth

- One rotor dirty or damaged

- One speed sensor not properly installed

- Excessive wheel bearing play at one wheel

- One speed sensor faulty

- Check all rotors and verify contents of channels 1-4 in Group 0

- Clean/replace rotors

- Check position of all speed sensors

- Check all wheel bearings

- Check all speed sensors & perform test with VAG1710

Rear I/O Valve (N160)
- Open circuit in wiring. Short to +ve or ground between electro-hydraulic unit (N55) and ABS controller (J104)

- Right front ABS inlet/outlet valve (N160) is faulty

- Trace and repair wiring

- Check N55 & test with VAG1710

ABS Control module faulty (J104)
- Note: If DTC 00301 is also displayed - repair that first.

- Open circuit in wiring or contact resistance in power supply or ground connection into J104.

- ABS controller (J104) has internal fault

- Trace and repair wiring

- Replace ABS controller (J104)
